Upon landing at the airport in Tbilisi, we will meet at the exit from the baggage collection room next to a currency exchange called “Ako”-located in the reception area. And we will drive to the Biltmore Hotel, Tbilisi.

Exhibition: Parallel to scientific sessions, a commercial exhibition of the major pharmaceutical companies including the latest laboratory and clinical equipment, assays, drugs, books and other material will be held at the Meeting Venue.

Pre-congress and post-congress tours| October 12/13/14/15 – are specially prepared and will only be operated for the participants of the “Conference”. Each tour will be conducted by a multi-lingual professional guide. The tours will be operated for minimum30 people. If the number of participants for a single tour is less then 30 the tour will not be operated. The Organizing Secretariat reserves the right to make changes in the programmes. It will be a good opportunity for the participants to discover and enjoy Georgia.

Tbilisi, beautiful & miraculous, has a European character incredibly mixed together with unforgettable features of old Georgian city, keeps traces of all major events of Georgian history & leaves no one indifferent. The most striking aspect of Tbilisi today is its self-assured revival of its own traditions. Tbilisi is once more assuming its position as the capital & mother city of the ancient state of Georgia. It is a city in which one comes face to face with all that is finest & all that is most frustrating in Georgia.

Sites to visit:

  • Metechi church (12th -13th cc) was built under the order of king Demetre the 2nd (‘The Devoted’), although the former church stood here already in 5th century. This area was considered both religious and royal site, as in 12th century royal palace was moved near the church.
  • The district of Sulphur bath houses
  • Sioni Cathedral (7th -19th cc) was started in 500. The cathedral has been ransacked, and damaged many times through its history. Despite all the havoc and destruction Sioni has survived and in such terms may be judged as a symbol for the city as a whole.
  • Narikala Fortress (4th c) – main citadel of the city, which overlooks the oldest part of Tbilisi. During centuries Narikala was considered the best strategic point and every ruler local or invader was adding some new construction to previous fortification.
  • Anchiskhati basilica and bell tower (6th -18th cc)
  • Rustaveli Avenue

Day trip to Khevi Province – Kazbegi / Stepantsminda

Duration of the program – 8-10 hours

Spend your time relaxing and soaking up the views the Caucasus Mountains with its rich valleys, rushing mountain rivers. Take the opportunity to enjoy trip along Georgian Military Highway by exploring its attractive surroundings, as well as learning from sightseeing tours. Enjoy the breathtaking views of mountain passes littered by watchtowers and alpine fields.If weather conditions permit you’ll see ‘Mkinvartsveri’ or Kazbek (5047 m.) meaning ‘ice-top’. Natives of Khevi province often call this giant volcano ‘the bride of the Khevi.’

Sites to visit:

  • Jvari Church (6th-7th cc) a masterpiece of the early Medieval Period. This example of classic tetra conch design with all its miniature size, strikes the viewers with its grandeur and integrity. Splendor & ornate decorations Jvari monastery (6th c), housing the church & the fortification wall, demonstrated the power & confidence of the Georgian rulers.
  • Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th c) which may be translated as “The Life-giving pillar”, is the main church of Mtskheta and a sacred place where the robe of Christ is being kept. Svetitskhoveli Cathedral was designed to correspond to the prosperity & upsurge of the Georgian state as well as one of the most venerated places of worship for Christians in Georgia.
  • Ananuri architectural complex(16th -17th cc) the oldest northern citadel along Georgian Military Road.
  • Gergeti Trinity Church (14th c) * 2-3 hours walking tour to visit Gergeti Church or drive by Mitsubishi Delica (at additional rate)

One day trip to Mtskheta, Gori & Uplistsikhe

Duration of the program – 8-9 hours

The Georgian lands are ancient crossroads & remember many ancient civilizations & great peoples. Town-dwelling began in Georgia around the 8th-7th cc BC. The trade route from India led through the lowlands of the Mtkvari and Rioni valleys to the Black Sea & further westwards. The towns, such as Mtskheta, Gori, Uplistsikhe, developed as centers of trade and manufacture, grew up along this route. One of these towns was Uplistsikhe, the administrative & political centre of Kartli, built over several centuries of the 1st millennium BC and continued expand in the early centuries AD. The hut roofed complex was sited on a mountain side, hewn out of the rock, surrounded by moats & protected on the south side by the river Mtkvari. Domestic dwellings & churches lay in the centre, while the craftsmen’s workshops and trading centre were at the southern end. In Gori excursion to the house where Stalin was born, the museum & the private coach.

Sites to visit:

  • Uplistsikhe – meaning “The Fortress of God”, an ancient cave town from the 1st half of the 1st millennium BC situated on the crossroads of important trade routs. It was the main centre of paganism, and represents a complex of halls, caves, theatres, altars, pagan temples, secret tunnels, prisons, pharmacy, passages-streets all carved out of stone over an area of 4 hectares. At its peak of prosperity, the city had a population of 20 000. In 9th -10th cc AD a three-nave basilica was added to the complex.
  • Stalin’s Museum, house where Stalin was born & the private coach.

One day trip to Kakheti Region – Major Highlights

Duration of the program – 8-10 hours

The trip leads to Kakheti province, famous wine making region of Georgia. Guided excursion en route to Bodbe nunnery with their tranquil cloister garden. St.Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th c., is buried in Bodbe. Then drive through the town of Sighnaghi, surrounded by the defensive wall. The town appears to be one of the examples of fortified medieval towns in the country. In Alazani valley visit elegant 12th c. Alaverdi cathedral with its sheer size and splendor, a place of welcome, beauty and holiness, Ikalto Academy Complex – 11th century cultural, religious and educational centre of Eastern Georgia.

Sites to visit:

  • Sighnaghi – a Royal town surrounded by the defensive walls with 23 towers. Each of these towers were named after nearby villages and respective families and served as a refuge in case of danger. The town was mainly inhabited by merchants and artisans. It had many gates through which numerous Silk Road travellers from Asia and Europe passed on their way.
  • Bodbe nunnery complex was founded during St. Nino’s earthly life, in the first part of the fourth century. During the Middle Ages Bodbe Convent represented ecclesiastical and cultural centres of the country.
  • Tsinandaly Family Estate, It’s beautiful English style park and centuries old Wine cellar.
  • Family winery (lunch and wine tasting)
